About us

A little piece of the Himalayas, made with love

Himalayan Zen was born from a deep respect for traditional Nepali craft and the artisans who keep it alive.

Where it all begins

Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, our small collective of artisans has been hand-felting and weaving for generations. We started Himalayan Zen to share that craft — and those livelihoods — with the wider world.

Every product we make starts with 100% New Zealand Merino wool — chosen for its softness, durability, and natural properties. From raw fibre to finished piece, every step is done entirely by hand.

We believe handmade goods carry something mass-produced items never can: the warmth of the person who made them. That's what we're sending to you.

Our materials

100% New Zealand Merino wool

We source only the finest Merino wool from New Zealand — naturally soft, biodegradable, and free from harsh chemicals. It's the foundation of everything we make.

Naturally soft

Merino fibres are finer than regular wool, making every piece gentle against skin.

Biodegradable

Natural wool breaks down harmlessly — no microplastics, no lasting waste.

Durable

Properly felted Merino lasts for years with minimal care.

How it's made

01

Sourcing the wool

We select premium New Zealand Merino fleece for its consistent quality and softness.

02

Washing & dyeing

The raw wool is washed and dyed using natural plant-based pigments for rich, lasting colour.

03

Hand-felting

Artisans work the fibres by hand using traditional wet and needle-felting techniques.

04

Finishing & quality check

Each piece is shaped, trimmed, and inspected before it's ready to travel to your door.

Made with heart

Every purchase directly supports the artisans who made your piece — providing fair wages, safe working conditions, and pride in a craft that has been passed down for generations.
